Reddit is testing ads on its search results pages with a select group of eligible advertisers. The ads will use Reddit’s existing targeting capabilities, including relevance to a user’s search query, the company announced today.
Why we care. Reddit search ads could help you reach potential customers as they research products, with ads tailored to their search terms.
How it works. Reddit said ads may appear based on several factors, including the context of a search.
- A search for “espresso station” could show ads for espresso machines, coffee beans, or mugs.
- A search for “home office setup” could show ads for monitors, desks or office chairs.
Limited advertiser access. We don’t know how many advertisers are participating or when the ads might become more widely available. Reddit will evaluate how users respond to the ads during the test and use those findings to improve the experience.
Not the first search ads test. Reddit previously announced a test of AI shopping carousels in search results in February.
