Google Ads API Release Schedule Accelerates to Twice Monthly
Google is accelerating its Google Ads API release schedule to twice a month, starting with version 26 in October 2026, giving developers faster access to new advertising features.
What’s changing
Google previously moved to monthly API releases in 2025. Now, it’s doubling that frequency to approximately two releases per month.
The new schedule is designed to support faster development of automated advertising tools, AI agents and campaign management workflows.
How it works
Despite the increased release frequency, Google will continue introducing four major API versions per year.
All additional releases will be minor updates containing new, non-breaking features.
The good news
Developers won’t need to migrate their integrations more frequently.
Major API versions will continue to receive approximately one year of support, while minor releases will sunset alongside their parent major version.
The timeline
Google’s tentative schedule includes:
- October 2026: v26 launches, followed by v26.1.
- January 2027: v27 major release.
- April 2027: v28 major release.
- July 2027: v29 major release.
- October 2027: v30 major release.
Additional minor releases are planned between major versions, although Google notes that dates may change and some holiday-season releases could be skipped.
Upcoming sunsets
Google has also outlined its projected API retirement schedule for 2027:
- v23: February 2027
- v24: May 2027
- v25: August 2027
- v26: November 2027
Minor versions will retire alongside their corresponding major releases.
Another change
Google’s API release blog posts and YouTube live events will move to twice per quarter, covering updates from multiple releases rather than announcing every release individually.
Developers can follow the official release notes for updates as individual versions become available.
Why we care
Faster API releases could help third-party platforms, reporting tools and automation systems adopt new Google Ads features more quickly.
For teams building AI-powered campaign management tools, the shorter release cycle may also reduce delays when integrating new capabilities.
The bigger picture
Google is preparing its advertising infrastructure for increasingly automated and AI-driven workflows, where faster access to new features can help developers build and improve tools more efficiently.
The bottom line
Google Ads API updates are becoming more frequent, but migration requirements remain unchanged. Developers will gain faster access to new features without having to upgrade major API versions more often.
