ES: I am excited to have this conversation. I have wanted to do this kind of episode for a long time. To set the table, I will provide the context. Maybe a month ago, I tweeted that I would love to have someone on the podcast to steelman the open web and provide the bull case. A number of people I respect recommended you, so here you are. Thanks for doing this. I am excited to hear your position today.
GG: It is my pleasure. I spend all day every day talking about the open web, so I am ready. It is just another day at the office.
ES: Before we dive in, could you please introduce yourself to the audience?
GG: I am Gareth Glaser. I am a pure ad tech person. I have only ever worked in independent ad tech. My first job out of college was at AppNexus, which was a very early programmatic company. Ever since then, I have been starting companies in the space.
