There is a bug in Google Search Console this morning with the custom date range selector in the performance report. If you try to change the date range, the end date is preset to 1969 and won’t let you go beyond that date.

This does not impact the pre-selected date range filters, but it does impact you when you try to set a custom date range.

What it looks like.

Here is a screenshot of the custom date picker defaulting the end date to 1969:

Then when you try to move that date to sometime in the present 2026 year, it won’t let you. The error reads, “Date can’t be after 1969-12-31.”

Presets work.

As I said above, the preset date filters do work, it is just the custom date filter that does not. So you can select the 24 hours, 7 days, 28 days, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and 16 months options.

Why we care.

I am sure Google will fix this issue, but for now, know this is not your fault, it is an issue on Google’s end. Google will hopefully fix this soon.

So this is a temporary bug that hopefully will be resolved shortly.

Fixed.

Google has fixed this bug at around 9 am ET the same morning this story went live.
